When does the Whistler Bike Park open, and when does it close? Both dates are tied to Canadian long weekends. The park opens on the Friday of the Victoria Day long weekend in May, a day everyone in town calls Whismas. It closes on Thanksgiving Monday in October.
For 2026 that means the last day of riding is Monday 12 October 2026. Next season hasn’t been announced yet, but on the usual pattern Whismas 2027 will be Friday 21 May 2027.
When Does the Bike Park Open?
Whistler Blackcomb opens the bike park on the Friday before Victoria Day, so opening day kicks off a three-day weekend. The date moves around a little each year because Victoria Day does. It’s the Monday before 25 May.

The 2027 dates are our prediction from the pattern, not an announcement. We’ll update this page when Whistler Blackcomb confirms them, usually in spring.
What’s Open on Whismas?
Not the whole park. Opening day is the Fitzsimmons Zone only, reached on the Fitzsimmons 8 Express from the village. That’s still a lot of riding: in 2026 the opening-day trail report listed more than 60 trails, including A-Line, B-Line and upper Dirt Merchant.
The rest of the park opens over the following weeks as the snow melts higher up:
- Garbanzo Zone usually opens in the second week of June. Recent dates were 11 June 2022, 8 June 2024, 14 June 2025 and 13 June 2026.
- Creekside Zone opens in June too: 8 June 2024, 7 June 2025 and 20 June 2026. It didn’t run at all in summer 2022.
- Top of the World, the Peak Zone, depends entirely on snow at the top of Whistler Mountain. It usually opens in July.
One exception: in 2023 the old Fitzsimmons chair was being replaced with the new eight-seater, so riders uploaded on the Whistler Village Gondola instead.
The Crossover Weekend: Ski in the Morning, Ride in the Afternoon
This is what makes Whismas special. Blackcomb’s ski season ends on Victoria Day Monday, the same long weekend the bike park opens. So for three or four days you can ski spring snow on Blackcomb in the morning and ride the bike park on Whistler in the afternoon.
In 2026 the bike park opened on Friday 15 May and Blackcomb ran until Monday 18 May. In 2027 we expect the bike park to open on Friday 21 May and Blackcomb to close on Monday 24 May. There’s more on the ski side in our Whistler Blackcomb opening and closing day guide.
Doing both means hauling a lot of gear around. Our lockers are one minute from the gondolas, so you can drop your skis after the morning and pick them up on the way home. If you’re bringing bikes, the Jumbo Closet fits three.
When Does the Bike Park Close?
The last day is Thanksgiving Monday, the second Monday in October. For 2026 that’s Monday 12 October. Only the Fitzsimmons Zone runs to the end. Garbanzo and Creekside close in late September, and this year both shut on 23 September.
Expect the final weeks to be quieter, cooler and often wetter, with shorter evenings. Check the trail report before you go. In 2027 Thanksgiving falls on Monday 11 October, so that’s the closing day to expect.
